A group of women engineers at the Phillips Corporation raised funds for Crest View Elementary School last winter, and the school used the funds to hire an artist in residency to help all students in the school to make a mural together earlier this fall.
The artist in residence, Ava Lambert, also works for Phillips Corporation by day and is an oil painter. She spent time learning about Crest View and incorporated several nods to the school’s unique attributes when she sketched it out. Every student and staff member in the school then had the opportunity to paint part of the mural before it landed back in Lambert’s studio, where she put on some finishing touches.
Lambert, representatives from the Phillips Corporation and a few students recently joined Crest View principal Stephanie Webster for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially welcome the finished artwork to the school’s entrance hallway.
