Crest View Elementary teams up with Tree Trust for learning and planting experience

Trees were a theme of the trimester for Crest View Elementary students, thanks to a partnership with the non-profit organization Tree Trust. 

Tree Trust came to the school at the end of April for an educational day on the benefits of trees. The students engaged in hands-on activities to learn how trees clean our water, provide relief from summer heat, provide us with many items we use each day and more.  

The tree fun continued with a planting day on May 22, when Tree Trust returned to help each student play a role in planting 20 trees all around the Crest View grounds. Some of the different species planted included honey locusts, tamarack and Colorado blue spruce. 

The event wrapped up with a short ceremony that afternoon, where students and staff gathered outdoors to hear a few words from Tree Trust representatives, Principal Stephanie Webster, Superintendent Dr. Kim Hiel and Assistant Superintendent Stephen Flisk. The speakers praised students for the importance of their efforts and said their efforts that day will benefit visitors to the school for many years to come.
